Our History

Pioneering composite innovation since 1988, our team at Umoe Mandal shipyard blazed a trail with fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) applications for cutting-edge naval and commercial vessels.

Building on this legacy, UMOE Advanced Composites was established in 2006—dedicating itself to large-scale Type IV composite cylinders for compressed gases, a cornerstone of modern gas storage and transportation.

Since then, we’ve expanded our expertise to deliver industry-leading solutions: composite accumulator systems (CAPVs) for heave compensation on semi-submersible rigs and drill ships, composite cylinders for offshore cranes, risers and subsea systems, and gas transport modules (MEGC’s) tailored for compressed biogas (CBG) and hydrogen distribution.

Our customers include some of the largest world wide operators in the energy sector, among them The Linde Group, Plug Power and Lhyfe, who rely on us for safe, efficient and sustainable gas logistics.
